Carrie Blast Furnace Tour for BoringPittsburgh

BoringPittsburgh.com (don’t let the name fool you! They love Pittsburgh!) contacted me to cover this guided tour for their blog. The location is visually breathtaking and the tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable and full of entertaining stories as they all worked at Carrie in their youth. It was an absolutely amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone!

Learn a bit more about Carrie’s history and see many more shots from the tour by visiting the BoringPittsburgh blog here.

(A special thank you to BoringPittsburgh for the great time and Bridgett Kay for coming along so last minute!)

In one of his books (“The photographer’s vision” IIRC), Michael Freeman discusses the beauty of decay. These shots, with the lighting you caught, remind me of that. Good job!

Wow, that’s some wild stuff. Very interesting to see how things we rarely think about operate and the history behind it all.

What a cool thing to photograph, I keep thinking how some of these would make fantastic textures…

Is it weird that all I could think about while looking at this was “wow, what a cool place for a wedding” ?

Neat! I love the textures and your lighting. And your choice of last frame. :)

Beautiful, V! What a great time – and how different our photos both were even though we traveled the exact same direction the whole time. Thanks for having me with you!
