The walls were lined with floral wallpaper and the decor was unique and eye catching at Morning Glory Inn. I had only met Kelsey and Chris twice prior to their wedding day, but I felt like this place perfectly captured their spirits and styles. The b&b had such a warm, happy, friendly feeling – the same vibes I had picked up from the both of them during those first two meetings.
I made my way up the stairs to find a maze of rooms covered in beautiful Victorian style where a bridesmaid pointed me in the direction of the library. A relative sat on a sofa, patiently waiting for the festivities to begin, while a table full of bouquets stood in the center of the room with two young girls, the bride and groom’s daughter and her best friend, playing hide and seek underneath. I followed the sounds of laughter to the next room where Kelsey, her mother, and bridesmaids were sipping champagne and prepping the gown and shoes for their big moment. Kelsey dressed and hurried downstairs and into the courtyard of the bed and breakfast where Chris was waiting.
She stepped outside, took a deep breath, and walked towards her groom. When he turned, he grabbed her and threw his arms around her so tightly. Like two puzzle pieces, they fit together perfectly, clinging onto one another, not letting go. After a few moments, they pulled away only long enough to catch a glimpse of the others teary eyes, then held one another again.
The guest list was small – only close family and the very closest of friends were there to witness the celebration. The ceremony was short and oh-so sweet. It even included a bit of laughter when the best man, Christopher’s brother, dropped (and then quickly retrieved) the rings. The toasts were momentarily interrupted by a giant summer storm. But the loud cracks of thunder and bright flashes of lighting only seemed to add to the atmosphere as their bridal party passed the mic and shared stories that were both hilarious and moving. Their first dance was romantic and gripping – everyone watched, teary eyed, as they held each other tightly and swayed to the music. The day was emotional, it was overflowing with love.
