Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer : Photographic Playtime
It’s impossible for photography to ever become a dull or boring thing. There’s always a new trick to learn or a new piece of equipment to master. Playing around and trying things out isn’t really something you can do with clients, though. So I recently put out a request on Facebook asking for any volunteers to act as my subject while I play, learn and become comfortable with new things before using them on clients. I was so completely surprised by the response. The list is now at nearly 50 volunteers and names continue to trickle in.
For the first “play” shoot of 2013, my wonderfully talented friend Kelsie Taylor and I teamed up. She was to explore her newest camera and I wanted to play with digital double exposures. We contacted one of the first volunteers. Her name is Aubrey and, along with being a red-headed green-eyed beauty, she’s also a photographer herself.
This session was extra special. It was my first time in ages shooting for fun with other photographers. There’s a powerful energy that comes along with this type of thing. You bounce ideas back and fourth, you learn from one another and you try things you would have never even thought to try on your own. It’s a truly inspiring experience.
Here’s to many more shoots like this in 2013!
