As I drove to Erie from Pittsburgh, I found myself laughing out loud at the memories I have with Emily. Her and I worked together in retail when we were younger, and anyone who has ever worked in retail knows that you need a few solid shoulders to lean on. She was definitely one of mine.
Because of that, seeing her so happy and so ready to marry Derrick, the love of her life and her other half, was such a special thing. Every wedding is special to a wedding photographer. There is something new and exciting about each and every couple. But when you have a personal connection with them, it’s an especially moving experience.
During the ceremony, both Emily and Derrick were so quiet and so visibly excited when they exchanged their vows, many of the guests in the tiny chapel were silently wiping away happy tears. (Myself included.)
